    Paradox表示，《十字军之王2》是深度角色导向的策略游戏，当欧洲处于动乱当中，玩家要拓展个人的领域、补充好个人的库房，任命军队的阵型，与敌方战斗，并且和众多贵族互动时来引用法律，面对充满控制欲的主教，以打造中古世纪欧洲最具权威的王朝。
　　
    当玩家身处困境时，总会有朋友来帮助你，但要注意的是，若是玩家的规则造成麻烦时，忠诚的伙伴也有可能便成了对手。玩家要随时提高个人的信誉，让世界所有人听到玩家的名字而肃然起敬。玩家必须与联盟保持密切联系，并且让刀锋保持锐利，任何时候都要保持智慧，以成为领导整个国家的真正领袖。
