Before you will talk first time with a merchant save your game, then talk to him and check their inventory, if they don't have desireable items then just reload. I have been able to get up to 3 INT stones from following merchants.<br/><br/>Silden - Temmy<br/>Trelis - Khabir<br/>Geldern - Jared, Renwik, Mirzo, Hamil<br/>Gotha - Markan<br/><br/>And now, locations of books...<br/><br/>Ardea - INT, ALC<br/>Cape Dun - ALC<br/>Okara - ALC<br/>Silden - ALC<br/>Geldern - ALC, ALC, ALC<br/>Braga - INT<br/>Ben Erai - ALC<br/>Monastery - ALC, ALC, INT<br/>Xardas' tower - INT, ALC<br/><br/>Collecting all those stuff I got about 130 INT and 60 alchemy!<br/><br/>Keep in mind that these books are accessible at lvl1, no reputation needed.<br/>Later I also plan to include locations of books that you can get from places where you need reputation to get to.
